PRODUCER BIOS

JEFFERSON MONEO

Creator/Executive Producer

A graduate of Columbia University's Film MFA program, Jefferson Moneo has produced work in collaboration with the National Film Board of Canada, the National Screen Institute of Canada, and the Saskatchewan Arts Board. Jeff received two Hollywood Foreign Press Awards at Columbia for his work as an international student. In a rare feat, both of Jeff's films from Columbia, BIG MUDDY and GOING SOUTH, screened in competition at the Cannes Film Festival as part of the Cinefondation programme (2011 and 2013, respectively). The feature screenplay version of BIG MUDDY was awarded Faculty Honors from Columbia University and development financing from the Harold Greenberg Fund. BIG MUDDY completed production in 2013 and is set to hit the festival circuit in fall 2014.

ADAM WINTERS

Executive Producer/Writer/Editor in Chief

Adam Winters is an American writer and translator. He left a doctoral program in molecular biology to finish a story about a biological weapon. He lives in New York City, where he is completing a book of stories in Columbia University's MFA Writing Program.

NYSSA CHOW

Co-Creator/Executive Producer

Nyssa Chow is a writer/director and current MFA candidate at Columbia University She has also worked as a photojournalist and in television reporting at the UN. As a performer, her solo performance at The Kitchen Theatre was featured in the New York Times. She served as Editor in Chief of Generation Lion Magazine with circulation throughout the Caribbean, New York and Miami. She currently resides in New York City.

EVANGELINE MORPHOS

As a producer, she has worked in theatre, film, and television and is a pioneer in narrative web content. She is the co-founder of eguiders.com, a web site that makes daily recommendations of the best online videos. Morphos was a producer of The Bedford Diaries, a series on the WB network. She has produced over twenty-five off-Broadway productions, premiering new plays by David Rabe, David Mamet, Sam Shepard and Frank Pugliese and the long-running hits Blown Sideways Through Life and The Food Chain.

MAUREEN RYAN

Maureen Ryan is an independent producer concentrating on feature films—both documentary and narrative. She was co-producer of Man on Wire, the 2009 Academy award-winning feature documentary about Philippe Petit, the wire walker who walked between the World Trade Center towers in 1974. She is also co-producer of Project NIM which premiered at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival, won the Jury Prize for Best Word Cinema Documentary Director and was short listed for the Academy Award.

Veronica Nickel

Veronica Nickel is an independent producer based in New York. She recently wrapped production on her third feature film entitled Stand Clear of the Closing Doors, winning the Special Jury Prize at Tribeca in 2013. Nickel's traditional western, Dead Man's Burden had it's theatrical release in May 2013. She produced the thriller Nor'easter that bowed in July 2013. In 2010, Nickel was chosen to take part in the Sundance Institute Creative Producing Summit. In 2009, while earning her MFA at Columbia University, she was awarded the Arthur Krim Endowment Award for excellence in producing. She continues her relationship with Columbia University as a staff advisor for the Columbia University Sloan Foundation grant. Nickel currently Nickel runs her own production company, llluminaria Productions.

MARGOT ARAKELIAN

Margot Arakelian is an Armenian-born writer and producer. She received her MFA with Honors from Columbia University's Graduate Film Program. She is the recipient of the 2013 Zaki Gordon Award for Excellence in Screenwriting. Margot is repped by Silent R Management.

JOSHUA CARLEBACH

Joshua Carlebach is a writer currently living in Los Angeles. He served as Artistic Director of The Flying Machine Theater Company in NYC for 13 years, and created works performed internationally and in New York at Galapagos Art Space, Soho Rep and The Public Theater. A graduate of Ecole Jacques Lecoq in Paris and Columbia University's Graduate Film Program, he also plays accordion for singer/songwriter Nina Nastasia.

STIAN HAFSTAD

Stian Hafstad is a very handsome award winning writer/director from Norway. He is co-founder of PistolShrimps, a comedy viral hit making machine on YouTube with more than a 100 million views. www.stianhafstad.com

BRIAN MCAULEY

Brian McAuley received his BA in Screenwriting and Horror Theory from NYU's Gallatin School of Individualized Study, where he adapted his horror-comedy feature screenplay Love Me Tender into an award-winning short film that played at over twenty international film festivals. He earned his MFA in Screenwriting from Columbia University's School of the Arts, where his television pilot script Strange Case won Faculty Selects and Best Original Pilot in the 2012 Columbia University Film Festival.

LENA RUDNICK

Lena is a directing candidate in Columbia University's MFA film program, where she works tirelessly honing her story-telling skills. She has completely 4 short films with international screenings. Her short film El Spanish Lesson (writer/producer) showed at the NY International Latino Film Festival and her commissioned art can be viewed on OMW's website. Lena recently won a Female Filmmaker Development Award at Columbia. While her work spans many types of projects Lena's strength as an artist is in her “sincere-sarcastic” perspective and the mixture of comedy and pathos she infuses into her vision of humanity.

HANNAH SANDERSON-BUCHNER

Hannah is a recent graduate of the MFA program at Columbia University and an aspiring comedy writer based out of NYC. She enjoys whales, Jesse Pinkman and coconut milk. Also manatees.

VALERIE BISCHOFF

Director: STU LOVES STU

Writer/Director Valerie Bischoff hails from Reno, Nevada, a rugged part of the country that continues to inspire her work. She is a Fulbright scholar and recently graduated with Honors from Columbia University's Graduate Film School where her short film, Derby Kings (2012) received the prestigious Princess Grace Graduate Film Scholarship and will be showcased at the 2013 Palm Springs Film Festival. Her previous short film, Veterans (2010) won the Adrienne Shelly Award for Best Female Director, Las Vegas Film Festival Jury Award and best short at the Nevada Film Festival. Valerie is currently in development on her first feature film Massacre Creek, a horror/thriller set in the Nevada desert, with Sixgun Pictures.

ANDREW ELLMAKER

Director: BABY BUYER BOBBY

Andrew Ellmaker was born in Portland, Oregon. After studying film and photography at Tufts University, he showed video work in the Oregon Biennial and two short films at SXSW film festival. He spent a few years in the commercial world directing web content for Wieden + Kennedy and producing NBA videos for Adidas before going back to school to get an MFA at Columbia University. Ellmaker's short film, Total Freak, was awarded the 20th Century Fox Outstanding Achievement in Comedy in 2013.

JENNIFER GERBER

Director: NEWSFLASH: YOU'RE HIDEOUS & CRAFTWERKS

Jennifer Gerber grew up in Arkansas but she built her film career in Chicago before attending graduate school at Columbia University. Jennifer served as Senior Producer for Manning Productions as well as a 1st Assistant Director on numerous film and commercial productions including Black Dog Red Dog with James Franco and Ex-Girlfriends with Jennifer Carpenter to name a few. She has served as an adjunct film instructor at Columbia College Chicago, and teaches at the SOCAPA summer film program. Her most recent short film ‘Soul Winner' is currently traveling on the festival circuit and her directing awards include: Regional Finalist for Student Academy Awards, Princess Grace Honorarium, 2 Telly awards, VGIK Best Student Program Award, Tropfest NY 2013 finalist and she received recognition for Indie Soul at the Boston International Film Festival. Jennifer is currently in development for her first feature film “Pretty Near Perfect” about teenage beauty queens in Arkansas.

CHRISTOPH KUSCHNIG

Christoph Kuschnig received his MFA with Honors from Columbia University. His award winning short HATCH (which he is currently developing into a feature) has screened at over 80 festivals worldwide. Christoph is a Fulbright Scholar and a HFPA Grant recipient. In 2012 he was selected to be part of the 2012 Berlinale Talent Campus among 4300 applicants.

KEVIN LAU

Kevin Lau is a writer/director born and raised in Los Angeles. A Regents Scholar at UCLA, Kevin expressed his experiences with both music and photography before finding a home in filmmaking. A former theatrical film distributor and film festival programmer, Kevin left California in 2009 to pursue his artistic ambitions full-time at Columbia University. His thesis film, MADE IN CHINATOWN, recently won multiple awards at the NBC/Universal Shortcuts competition. Kevin is currently developing several character-driven epics, giving voices to quiet stories in a very loud way.

DANIEL ZIMBLER

Director: NANOFARM

Born and raised in South Africa, Daniel Zimbler directs both for the stage and screen. He is a graduate of Columbia University's MFA film program, where he has also taught undergraduate directing. His thesis film SOCKS & BONDS features Tony nominee Alison Fraser, Stephen Singer and Stephen Rowe, and was awarded Faculty Selects at Columbia University's Film Festival in 2013. Daniel is co-creator of the comedy web series, “Understudies”, which parodies life backstage on Broadway.
